Livermore Area Youth Advisory Commission - There are vacancies for youth members between the ages of 12 and 20 and one vacancy for an adult member. The committee meets on the third Monday of each month at 7:00 p.m.
This committee promotes youth involvement in the Livermore community and communication between City leadership and the young people of the City. The committee creates a forum for ideas and concerns and provides a vehicle for ideas and concerns and interest of youth to be communicated to the City Council. Become a part of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District's new Volunteers in Action (VIA). Register to help at a myriad of LARPD events/programs.
Current needs are:
• Portola ESS Store Keepers
Two volunteer store keepers 17 years of age or over are needed for LARPD's Portola Extended Student Services program, providing before- and after-school, year-round child care on weekdays. Duties include helping ESS children run a Candy Store by assisting them in buying, selling and marketing their “goods,” keeping track of their money and making change. Training will be provided.
• Homework Buddies
Persons are needed to provide one-on-one homework assistance for youngsters in kindergarten-fifth grade who are in the LARPD ESS/Kid’s Zone Program. Volunteers must commit to "buddy" for at least three months during the school year, working one hour per day two-three times per week.
