LARPD seeks volunteers

Become a part of the Livermore Area Recreation and Park District's new Volunteers in Action (VIA). Register to help at a myriad of LARPD events/programs.

Current needs are:

• Portola ESS Store Keepers

Two volunteer store keepers 17 years of age or over are needed for LARPD's Portola Extended Student Services program, providing before- and after-school, year-round child care on weekdays. Duties include helping ESS children run a Candy Store by assisting them in buying, selling and marketing their “goods,” keeping track of their money and making change. Training will be provided.

• Homework Buddies

Persons are needed to provide one-on-one homework assistance for youngsters in kindergarten-fifth grade who are in the LARPD ESS/Kid’s Zone Program. Volunteers must commit to "buddy" for at least three months during the school year, working one hour per day two-three times per week.

Call LARPD Volunteer Coordinator Kerri Anderson, 373-5179, for information.
